I tried to install it originally got it to work temporarily but i didn't use a switched 12v+ power source and consequently blew a fuse so i took it to my friends house who is good with cars. he replaced the fuse found an alternate switched 12v+ power source got the stereo on and running but no sound came out its not the speakers because the stock stereo will still work and its not the connections they are good checked them 10 times. Reading other peoples questions it sounds like something inside the stereo blew but how would I figure out what blew and how to fix it or do I just need to return it. and how would it blow in such a short time it worked the other dayyou may have blown the head unit. take it to car stereo shop and sak them to test it. sorry dudeThe best thing to do is go to circuit city audio department and get a wire harness for your car to that headunit. They typically cost $8 for the harness. Did u solder the wires from the headunit to the stock harness? If so u may have a bad solder point, anyway u should never alter the factory harness. are you sure the harness is using the right wires from the factory harness for the speakers? If it worked when you tapped the OEM harness but blew when you plugged it in the CD player, sounds like the harness might be wrong on how it's wired into your aftermarket harness. Thus you won't get sound.
Try this- Find a wiring diagram of your 06 Colorado
Choose a speaker- lets stay Front Right
Find on the diagram right front positive and neg.
check the back of the CD player where you hooked up your harness
find the right front positive and neg.
they should be going to the same locations
if not... that's a pain
if they are your harness is fine and just at the rest to see if they are wired up right.
Good luck n hope this helps#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
