It does matter what color is your wall upon which you will be projecting a color image. The best way to complement your particular projector is to spend $150 for a half gallon of special movie theatre based paint from goosystems.com. This painted wall screen will allow you to project at least a 110" diagonal image and not screw up your wall with placement of hangers for a movie screen. Then to fine tune and coordinate the background room lighting to your particular projector, rent a Pixar/Disney dvd and use the option, THX Optimizer to set up the projector's color, tint, contrast and brightness levels.
Here's an actual 93" diagonal movie image from "A Good Woman" projected by an Infocus SP4850 onto a goosystem.com painted grey screen:

Take note of the reading lamp which is left on in the left-hand corner of the room.
Good luck! The screen actually serves a purpose, One, it offers a gain factor to magnify the light back at you thus making it look better and brighter, Two the black border around the screen is there to absorb overscan, projectors do not make a perfect edge, so you have to overscan about 1% and the frame helps to hide that, dont do it on a wall, you can get screens cheap, look up SCREENINOVATIONS, or DALITEA silver bead screen can be viewed from a wide angle. Flat wall pics are poor if you are not in front of the projector. There is a paint you can get ( forgot the name ) that works. Check with a paint supply store..a white wall wpuld be best you muppetThey will play on a wall. Not the best picture but not bad, my friend uses his on a white wall and it looks ok. I think there is even some sort of paint you can use that enhances the picture.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
